I want to take a moment this Father’s Day to talk about how utterly amazing my parents are. They are loving, caring, and so supportive of all I do. This year they welcomed me with open arms to move back into their home. I am the youngest out of their four children and they have had an empty nest for almost 10 years. They have been so accommodating to me and never once complained about me moving back into their space. They never said “I told you so,” after the mistakes I made and life lessons I had to learn. They support my passions in life, and put up with all my messes, both physically and metaphorically.
I am so blessed to call these two my Mom and Dad. I want to give you a snippet into just how great they are. They have both taught me many lessons in life and instilled my passions for so many things. They love me with equal amounts as well as all of my siblings.
My mom is a middle school librarian. She is the reason I have my passion of reading. She is also the reason so many who grew up in our community love reading. She has the magical powers to find the students a book they will love. She does so many other things as well, she is a baker, a gardener, a grandmother… the list goes on and on. She also is my best friend, a shoulder to lean on, a person to laugh with. In a word she is… Amazing.
My dad is just as equally amazing. He is the owner of our small town full service gas station. He delivers fuel at all hours to farmers during their busy months, and goes out for deliveries on the coldest days of the year to ensure his customers have heat. He is a giver and helps others without hesitation. He never boasts his ability to give, he just does it effortlessly. He has given so much to me. He has done so much for me. Did I mention he saved my life from drowning when I was little? I can only hope that one day I can be as giving as him.
I could go on and on about how amazing my parents are, but I know we all have things to do and places to be. So I would like to end by saying this…
